Early this spring, I had the pleasure of reading "Sewing Happiness" by Sanae Ishida. In the book, Sanae recounts how her experience of finding happiness through sewing and living a healthier life. She shares sewing projects that can be enjoyed in the home.
One of my favorite project she shares, is the eye-catching Origami Pillow. Using a fabric folding technique, you can give fabrics an extra bit of dimension for your project. In the Origami Pillow instructions that Ishida lays out, you can create a statement piece that is easy to make and is sure to turn heads in your home.
I made pillows in both a blue and white patterned fabric and in a solid gray fabric. They each have such different looks - the patterned ones are more subtle with the geometric design, whereas the solid have a bold and very origami like geometric look. I'm thrilled with both versions of the finished product and highly recommend the book and her pattern.
If you're looking for some neat sewing projects and techniques that you can enjoy all year round, be sure to check out the Sewing Happiness book!
